The cost of health insurance and diabetes supplies has been rising every year. Cost of health care and term life insurance has been skyrocketing high as more and more people are opting to have no coverage or no insurance at all. The number of people suffering from diabetes is also rising.A survey concluded that 41 percent of the population have accumulated some medical debt or have a hard time paying up their medical bills over this last year alone.

Diabetes has been the fifth deadliest disease in this nation over the last 20 years. This number is rising over the next coming years. If you were to be diagnosed with diabetes, with insurance or not, you would face many obstacles like getting treated punctually each time.

Every year, many families are burdened with expensive co payments and deductibles and at times may have to make sacrifices to make ends meet. When someone suffers with diabetes, they need to watch their blood sugar level with a blood glucose monitor and test strips two or three times a day. These test strips cost about $60 for a box of 100.
Not only are the test strips expensive, a vial of insulin could cost between $30 and $70. This high price is due to the fact that insurance would not cover the cost of producing these generic brands outside the United States. Therefore, if you get diagnosed with diabetes and you do not have insurance, you may find it almost impossible to get new insurance with this pre-existing condition

Federal regulations like HIPAA allows for one to get insurance with this pre-existing condition provided that they also had a group health insurance through their work. In this case, if you were to switch jobs, your new boss is not allowed to impose a waiting period, provided that you have been covered for at least 2 years. If not, you may need to wait a year before the new group insurance policy takes effect.

Another option is state operated high risk insurance pool. Although this option is more expensive, this would be a viable option for one who can make the payments but not through traditional methods. The best thing to do would be to search for reputed insurance company that can serve your needs. Gather many health insurance and life insurance quotes before you decide which insurance plan is right for you.
